Doreen Bell, an 89-year-old retired office manager and widow, has lived a life filled with adventure and creativity. Born and bred in Dyess, Arkansas, she married a sailor and spent over twenty years traveling and living at numerous stations. Doreen, a lifelong fan of gardening, needlework, and science fiction, resorted to writing after her vision difficulties caused her to abandon her other pastimes.
During the COVID-19 epidemic, she decided to publish her work, adapting the long book into the “Planet Alverst” trilogy. Despite difficulties with several publishers, Doreen was successful in releasing numerous works, including “Space Ship Compton Mishaps” and “Carl’s Deserted Island Mystery.” Her most recent novel, “The Edge of the Galaxy But Which Galaxy?” exemplifies her ability to merge science fiction and deep human drama.
Doreen Bell’s resilience and ingenuity, despite difficulty, continue to inspire readers, demonstrating that age is no hindrance to storytelling.
